Presidents message for 2010

Dear KJFC members,

The noise of cricket season is starting to subside and the seasons are moving through summer to autumn and soon winter will be here again. Football season is fast approaching again and season 2010 will be the best ever.

KJFC has 12 teams for this season and for the first time we have an under 8 team. This is very exciting to think that children at such a young age can now get to experience the excitement of the most exhilarating and rewarding team sport in the world- Aussie Rules Football.

This season also sees some changes that result in the under 11 group being competitive where a finals series for the top 5 teams will take place. This will also be a new experience for our under 12 team this season. While scores up to now have not counted the children certainly know what they are. It will be exciting for the under 11 team and under 12 teams to have these scores count toward a final series and we wish them the very best of luck.

This season also sees new members of the KJFC committee. I am delighted to have Debra Hull join us. Debra will be working with our Life Member – Lynn Higgins on our social menus as well as helping Rob Tucker on merchandise ordering and sales. Ash Heppell is our new Auskick coordinator taking over from Andrew Hawkes who worked tirelessly in this position for many years. The Knox Football community has benefitted greatly from Andrew’s dedication to this role. Ash has also joined committee. I am also sad to say goodbye to Sheryn McInerney as treasurer who has been a real stalwart of the club. Mick McCarthy has ably stepped into Sheryn’s shoes as Treasurer. Finally I wish to welcome Mark Fisher to committee as Match Committee chairman. Mark takes over from another Mark (Mark Reeves) who fulfilled this role ably for many years prior. Fish has achieved amazing things in the short time on committee. Our club is very fortunate to have his skill and dedication working on behalf of our members.

So strap yourselves in for a great ride. Expect the social agenda to accommodate social nights for all age groups.
